Welcome to Innis Integrative Bodymind Therapy
Integrating psychotherapy and physical therapy in the treatment of trauma
Perhaps you have been exposed to trauma and know that it has impacted you in profound ways. Even with years of talk therapy, self-help books and practices, painful physical and emotional symptoms persist, and you are wondering if you are struggling with PTSD.
Sexual assault is part of your past and even though you think you have “gotten over” it, your body keeps giving you messages that there is residual fear of intimacy and involuntary muscle tension interfering with you feeling like yourself.
Have you been in an accident of some type, suffering and are having a hard time reengaging in the activity involved with the accident? Your body feels tight, wound up, hypervigilant even when there is no present risk. If you could just calm yourself back down you wouldn’t feel so exhausted, confused or preoccupied.
Maybe injury, surgery, or just life has left you with chronic pain, stress and limitations that are new and disturbing to you. You have been to multiple professional and feel like you have tried everything. Things are getting better. However, you’ve noticed that the inconsistent levels of your pain seem to be connected your thoughts, fears, emotions. You are starting to wonder if there is a mindbody connection to your condition.
Grief has arising as a result of loosing a loved one, or a sense of yourself. It may feel like too much has been taken away from you and it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is so hard to find relief and you are starting to wonder how to deal with it.
Despite the pain, confusion, and overwhelm you might be experiencing; I believe that your body has an innate ability to heal. My passion is helping individuals transform trauma, pain, and loss into personal gain using a mindbody approach. I believe that your body has innate wisdom and strength of its own, and I will work with you to tap into that awareness and develop greater trust of your body.
I am a somatic psychotherapist and a physical therapist. My 3 decades of working with people on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels has been an honor and a pleasure. I invite you to contact me if you feel like this may be the approach for you.
